Oklahoma's Cross-Cultural Learning Programs in Schools

However, according to the Oklahoma State Department of Education, nearly 68% of teachers feel unprepared to address the needs of culturally diverse classrooms, leaving many students disconnected from their educational experience.
Students who would benefit from these initiatives include those from Native American communities and other multicultural backgrounds, who often find their histories and cultures underrepresented in the curriculum. The lack of inclusive training for teachers limits their ability to create an engaging classroom environment that respects and promotes cultural understanding, which is especially essential in a state like Oklahoma, where such diversity should be embraced and celebrated.
The grant funding will deploy cross-cultural learning programs within Oklahoma schools to enhance students' understanding of diversity and promote respect among varying cultural groups.
