Oklahoma’s unique demographic composition presents distinct challenges as American Indian and Alaska Native students pursue degrees in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). With over 39 federally recognized tribes in the state, there is a need for educational programs that are not only culturally relevant but also accessible to students in rural areas. According to the Oklahoma State Department of Education, rural schools often lack adequate resources, resulting in disparities in STEM education delivery, which significantly limits students' exposure to advanced coursework and career opportunities.
