Oklahoma faces a daunting challenge in protecting its vulnerable elderly population from abuse and neglect. Elderly victims of abuse in Oklahoma often encounter multiple barriers when seeking help, such as limited access to legal support, healthcare, and social services. Many older adults live in rural or isolated environments where resources are scarce, making it difficult for them to reach out for assistance. Furthermore, the ingrained attitudes about elder care in some communities may also prevent victims from coming forward, perpetuating cycles of abuse and neglect.
The proposed grant aims to establish a crisis support program specifically for elderly victims of abuse and neglect in Oklahoma.
