Lack of resources and platforms for cultural exchange has hindered community engagement, particularly in rural areas, where many residents feel disconnected from neighboring cultures.
Local community organizations and cultural institutions, particularly in rural Oklahoma, are the primary beneficiaries of this grant. They face challenges in bringing together diverse groups in a manner that recognizes and respects each community's unique heritage. By promoting storytelling as a medium for cultural exchange, the project addresses these gaps, fostering understanding and appreciation among different backgrounds.
Eligibility for the grant includes local cultural organizations, educational institutions, and community groups that wish to host storytelling workshops or events. Applicants must demonstrate previous community involvement and outline specific storytelling methods that highlight the unique cultural narratives of Oklahoma residents.
