The state's rural communities are disproportionately affected, with 40% of rural residents reporting limited access to substance abuse treatment. Unlike Texas, Oklahoma's recovery support initiatives prioritize creating a robust support network for those in recovery. Oklahoma's 77 counties vary significantly in terms of substance abuse rates, with some counties reporting rates exceeding 25%. This grant will fund recovery support programs that provide counseling, peer support, and vocational training for those in recovery. Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations and community-based organizations with a proven track record in substance abuse treatment. To qualify, applicants must demonstrate an understanding of Oklahoma's substance abuse landscape and a plan to enhance recovery outcomes. The grant will prioritize programs that focus on creating a robust support network, including peer support groups and vocational training. Successful applicants will be required to track and report on recovery outcomes, including relapse rates and vocational success. Oklahoma's Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services will provide technical assistance and support to grantees. The initiative aims to enhance recovery outcomes and reintegration into society, measuring success through reduced relapse rates and improved vocational success. With 200 substance abuse treatment providers across the state, Oklahoma has a solid foundation for supporting recovery efforts.
